Background & Experience
Laikien has been working as an occupational therapist in a variety of settings for many years. Her first roles were in Australia working mainly with outpatient/inpatient rehabilitation and in complex disability. During that time, she developed her skills by improving function as well as adaptation/modification (e.g. equipment prescription and home modification). In 2020, Laikien moved to Singapore where she has been working with children with different needs such as ASD, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties, developmental delays, and many more.
Approach
Laikien is passionate about her role as an Occupational Therapist. She believes that therapy should be fun and engaging. She aims to work with the child and family in setting goals and choosing therapy tasks to achieve those goals. Laikien works under a strengths based and family-centred approach to best support the child and family in achieving their goals. She is continually looking at building her own skills and knowledge through professional development.
Personal
Laikien enjoys traveling, baking, brunching, and trying new and fun craft ideas. In less humid climates, she enjoys outdoorsy activities as she grew up in the beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain ranges.
