Background & Experience
Susan has extensive experience working in various settings, including outpatient clinics, special education schools and private clinics. She has provided support to children with diverse diagnosis and learning needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADD/ADHD, Intellectual disabilities, Global Developmental Delays and Sensory Processing Difficulties.
Approach
Susan firmly believes that children are empowered through play. It is through play that foundation skills are built which in turn enables the child to participate successfully in their school and everyday life. She adopts a child-led and strength based approach during therapy. She values rapport building and strives to make therapy sessions fun, purposeful and translatable to home and school. Every child is unique and effective intervention should be tailored according to the child’s strengths, abilities and interests whilst addressing the challenges
Susan enjoys working with parents and teachers and finds it rewarding when strategies/skills learnt are transferred and applied successfully at home and in school. She actively seeks to collaborate and empower parents to support their child in learning and achieving goals.
Susan actively seeks opportunities to develop professionally through reading up and attending courses/training.
Personal
Outside of work, Susan enjoys reading, being in nature and spending quality time with her family.
